So I love a great thick grass fed steak with a glass of Argentinean Malbec or Chilean Cabernet more than almost anyone I know. I also salivate over Peruvian chicken or lamb grilled al carbon (grilled over charcoal). During our travels I have even been tempted by and have enjoyed alapaca, llama, caiman alligator, and (even) cuy (guinea pig). But even this member of meat lover international craves some variety every now and again. Mimi is also constantly pleading with us to find “some other food.” So we have tried again and again and again to satiate this craving. We’ve tried Fushi, Finese, Fhai, and even Fasian fusion restaurants. What, you don’t recognize these cuisines? Sure you do: fake sushi (some has been god-awful, and they put Philly cream cheese in all of their rolls???), fake chinese (just throw some soy sauce on it and call it a day), fake thai (peanut butter is NOT peanut sauce) and fake Peruvian Asian fusion restaurants (both South America AND Asia should be ashamed). So after last night’s Fushi disaster, I have given up. Damn my probably skyhigh cholesterol, I’m gonna stick to steak until the second leg of our journey, but I just wish that I could get a good Feasar salad to go with it. The vile variations on this traditional Goldstein staple have been countless, but don’t get Mimi started……

  1. Did you try the juicy worms? I bet you can’t wait to get to Asia where the food will be much much better! You’ll have to let me know what you prefer: bad food but being able to speak the language or good food and not knowing what anyone is saying. I’d take the later!
