One thing that I don’t miss at all in Maryland in Spanish conjugations. Not only have they caused me hours of stress, but they still haunt me to this day. Ironically, of the few things to follow me to Ecuador, conjugations have hitched a ride in one of our many suitcases to Cuenca. Every day from 3 to 5 (or in Dad’s case until 6), we have tutors helping us with our Spanish in a centuries old European style building. Our teachers have helped us learn the Spanish “slang”, more conjugations than I could ever use (or remember), and the history of Ecuador. We have even had salsa dancing lessons! Although I can’t understand the whole concept of the “kick ball change”, Mom is having a blast, and I’ve got video evidence! It’s been a learning experience that has taught me a lot about the Ecuadorian culture and grammar.
